Erie Canal Classes offered in the Rochester area

Thomas Jefferson called the project "little short of madness". Its designers had no experience with canals whatever. Still, one state in our young nation chose to ignore the adversities and began digging a ditch across a wilderness of swamps, trees and mountains. Eight years later - without any help from the federal government at all - it was finished; and the course of our nation was changed forever. Sit with us for an evening of videos and discussion as we revisit the Erie Canal, and hopefully discover new reasons to appreciate this almost forgotten waterway that crosses through our own backyard.
